Pedestrian killed after being hit by car
A pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a car at Sandy Bay tonight.
Traffic is being diverted from the scene on Sandy Bay Road along Nelson Road and Waimea Avenue.
Accident investigation and forensic police are investigating.

Pedestrian killed by car
AN elderly woman crossing Sandy Bay Rd was hit and killed by a car last night.
Emergency services were alerted to the accident in Sandy Bay, south of Wrest Point Casino about 6.30pm.
Inspector Glen Woolley said it appeared the woman had tried to cross from the western side of Sandy Bay Rd, near the corner of Derwentwater Ave.
The car was travelling north towards the city.
"Unfortunately she failed to see a car approaching. She's been killed instantly," Insp Woolley said.
He said the site was quite a dark section of road.
The woman was also wearing dark clothing.
"We're trying to find the next of kin.
"We believe she's from the mainland."
Sandy Bay Rd was closed from Nelson Rd, outside Wrest Point, to Waimea Ave, for several hours while accident investigation and forensic officers worked at the scene.
The woman's death brings the state road toll to 17 -- two fewer than at the same time last year.
