While at the launch of the Forester Diesel earlier this week, Subaru also brought along the latest iteration of their popular Impreza model, which they have badged the Impreza XV.
With 30 millimetres more ground clearance along with protective black wheel arch moulds and other sports crossover styling cues, such as a rear diffuser and standard front fog lights, the XV takes on an entirely different character to the rest of the Impreza model range.
While it might be based on the stock Impreza hatch, the XV looks quite different and to me, has considerably more visual appeal than its existing stable mates.
That’s probably because it adds a new grille, front and rear bumpers, rear spoiler, 16-inch wheels and a metallic exhaust tip.
Inside is no less appealing, with superbly comfortable sports bucket seats, which look like they’ve been lifted from the WRX although, and these particular pews come with mocha accents.
It’s also Bluetooth enabled, with a proper iPod compatible USB connection as part of a 10-speaker audio system.
Other additions include climate control air conditioning and leather steering wheel, handbrake and shifter.
You can option a factory fitted sunroof too but that will set you back another $1500 (actually quite reasonable) on top of the $27,490 for the five-speed manual or $29,490 for the rather old school four-speed automatic.
Due entirely to the extra ground clearance, the suspension has been specially tuned, with changes to the stabilisers, spring rates, damping force and rear subframe bushes.
The car on display was painted in Camellia Red, but there’s a nice selection of exterior colours including Obsidian Black, Satin White, Spark Silver and Dark Grey.
The same 2.0 four-cylinder Boxer engine as that employed in the Impreza R, RX and RS powers Impreza XV. |
