L-plater clocked at 175km/h
TASMANIA Police reported a series of dangerous incidents at the weekend, including an L-plater doing 175km/h.
Tasmania Police said officers spotted a car with two male occupants doing 175km/h on the Bass Highway at Travellers Retreat.
The 17-year-old learner driver failed to stop and later abandoned the car on Illawarra Rd.
The two ran off but later turned themselves in. The learner recorded a 0.02 alcohol reading and faces court.
The vehicle was seized and impounded for a week.
On Saturday, police arrested and charged three people with car stealing and aggravated burglary in Launceston.
Police allege a vehicle stolen during a burglary failed to stop for them.
They say a young woman was standing on the back of the utility as it drove about 60km/h along Alanvale Rd.
Police did not pursue for safety reasons.
About 1.30am on Sunday, after public information, police found the car leaving the Riverside BP service station.
Police tried to intercept but said the car rammed their vehicle then drove the wrong way on the West Tamar Highway. The car and an oncoming vehicle collided.
Two 19-year-olds involved will appear in Launceston Magistrates Court.
A 15-year-old, who appeared in an out-of-sessions hearing, has been remanded in custody.
