The govenror lives in the govenror's house which is the little castle close to Tasman bridge. And from my experience in the military, he does not have armed guard.

You are right.  In fact, I believe he doesn't have any security guard.  He normally has 2 staffs traveling with him.  A driver, and a military officer.  The job of the military officer is to organize all of his travels, functions etc.  
However, I would love to be that officer, I can only do that when I reached the rank of Captain.  Interesting experience.
