Subaru Impreza WRX STI Coupe could make a comeback

With the Subaru Impreza WRX taking on the wide body sheet metal previously reserved for the STI, the next big reveal will come when Subaru unveils its updated STI halo model.

A report from almost two years ago may have the answer, speculating that Subaru would unveil a coupe version of its STI in 2010 as part of its joint venture with Toyota.
Two years on and this prophecy may be about to come to fruition, with Subaru expected to up the ante in order to justify the price premium over the standard doppelganger Impreza WRX.

Aside from the uncanny resemblance of the original concept rendering to the updated Subaru Impreza WRX unveiled today, some of the earliest reports surrounding the AE86 revival suggested an all-wheel-drive flagship model would be on the cards.


For Subaru this could be the perfect opportunity to win back a few of its followers by returning to its roots with the latest generation turbocharged Imprezas by creating a coupe in the spirit of the legendary wide body Impreza 22B and the limited production STI Coupe.
